How is it that the Chicago symphony has always had that lazer beam brass sound? What is the real reason, is it herseth? no other orchestra's brass section ever sounds similar.

Dooley's voice is just dripping with this condesending tone. I don't know why he thinks Bud is senile or something but he sounds and looks just fine to me.

I don't think he was being condescending. The room was quite noisey, with a lot of background noise that isn't obvious on this video. I think Mr. Dooley was just trying to be sure that Bud could hear him clearly. The admiration and respect is obvious, in my opinion.
