God is a God of a Second Chance

God (Yahweh) Jehovah is a merciful and kind God. He will forgive you and receive you, just repent and start over again. Through the Don Dickerman Prison Ministries, several high profile criminals were saved, delivered and free from sin. Also, a real-life ex-vampire, satanist and voodoo high priest and mason, Dr. Bill Schnoebelen, has repented and received Christ Jesus as his Lord and Savior. The man who shot John Lennon is born again and many others who are considered hard criminals. Apostle Paul confessed killing many Christians when he was lost. Paul believed he was right until God saved him. God is truly a God of Second Chances just like the song says. Whoever you are, wherever you've been, God just wants to love you and save you. God loves you for He is Love. He will deliver you from drugs, lying, cheating, murdering, sorcery, witchcraft and cause you to love, be full of peace, have longsuffering, joy, temperance, and patience. Try Him. When all else has failed, try God. Try Jesus. Ask Him to change your life. Let Him take control of your destiny. Let Him save your soul from Hell. Heaven is a beautiful place, but nothing will enter into heaven that is evil, sinful, or associated with satan. Revelation 21:8 says "But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death." Many hardened criminals find religion after there is nothing else. Not because it's fulfilling, not because of the merits of religion (and there are a few), but because it's the last resort. "Religion is the last refuge of the scoundrel." -- Samuel Johnson.

What a blessing for them to have the opportunity to make the right choices since prison is supposed to be rehabilitation. Thank God something works.

Religion is a drag I do admit, but salvation is real. Even if I turn my back on God, it's still real. I thought God hated me because my life was full of nothing but pain, heartache, abuse, and trouble. I hated life and prayed for death. I was so beat up, then the Hand of God thru His Spirit touched me and I've never been the same. I had a supernatural experience and continue to have a spiritual, not religious, relationship with Christ in Spirit & Truth. I was shocked when He touched me.

It's just that religion doesn't do it for me. But if it helps someone cope, and gives them something to anchor their life, how can I criticize that?

People like you, and replies like yours, make me glad I'm an atheist and NOT an anti-theist. You could have been ignorant and mean; instead, you were positive. THAT is what I meant when I said there are merits to religion. I have a brother who is very religious. We've gone round and round over the years, and he still prays for me to convert. Instead of being offended, I appreciate that he wants what he thinks is something positive. Thats religion as a flashlight instead of a crutch...

Thank God that even hardened criminals can make a change or actually have the wisdom to seek God. Jesus was crucified between 2 criminals - just one seized the opportunity to change his divine destiny. There is always a choice before our final destination. Let us all be wise enough to make the right decision according to truth and true light.
