Yea, seizing colonies (by pressing the button on the army tab when in a colony province) is much quicker and easier than suing for the province.

@sixshooter500 That'd be cool. I'd highly suggest watching EugeneOfSavoy18. He still does LPs, although in my opinion he isn't quite as enjoyable as Stalin.

you cna take colony only by clicking on yuor unit and clicking on seize colony
