  • On December 11th, 1961 in New York City, six gospel singers made history. Backed up by only a piano and a B-3 Hammond organ, they performed BLACK NATIVITY by Langston Hughes. After only 50 performances, BLACK NATIVITY closed; but there was a legacy - "a rare recording". Conductor-pianist and music historian Aaron Robinson, having listened to the album for several years, set to the task of creating a score inspired by the legendary performance to perform in concert.   • You guys did these songs justice. I've heard Black Nativity many times and I've heard some of these songs be butchered in less capable hands. This group really tried to stay faithful to the songs and put in the hard work to perform them well. Portland, Maine got a taste of the real thing. Good job.
