  • Thank you very much for your demonstration! I am practicing jump though wi cross legs. But I still find it is hard to keep my thighs into my chest all the time. My legs are always fall and my jump fail. Any suggestion for me ?

  • @elicasun It might help you to take a look at some of Maria Villella's instructional "Pick Up and Jump Back" videos on our channel. Maria gives exercises that help bring the knees tightly to the chest. Jumping through with crossed ankles is a bit like the movement of Picking Up and Jumping Back, only in reverse. So many of the same tips and instructions apply.

  • thanks for this. i'm working on my jump backs and hop throughs, and i was wondering about the heels of the hands because sometimes i have a tendency to lift them up. it makes sense though, it's harder work for your core to keep your hands flat, and you maintain better integrity. thank you!

  • @lindsay2loo Lifting the heels of the hands can become a habit that's difficult to break. Maria advises pressing the four corners of the hands into the floor at all times. This will enhance your ability to lift, and also decreases the wear and tear on your wrists and hands.

  • Very nice demonstration! Actually shows how the 2 methods are very similar in the basic requirements. Seem like you are pulling your knees into your chest as tight as you can in both methods as the initial phase and then with straight legs, the second phase is to extend the legs out past the hands. Question is how to get that tight lolasana type movement that both require (landing gear pulled neatly up into the plane)

  • @mark55223 Yes, Maria gets into a VERY tight tuck. In the thumbnail for this video, Maria is tucked so tightly it looks like she's in Bakasana, but this was just a 'frame' from jumping through with crossed legs. Check out some of the "Pick Up and Jump Back" videos with Maria on this channel, and you'll see some exercises for 'pulling up the landing gear'.
