*** Does not work with Minecraft's built-in pistons. ***

This piston-mod-driven minecart elevator tosses a cart 22 blocks upwards. The sample build shown here uses two of them to get a cart from sea level to the clouds in seconds. There are only a couple of things to keep in mind when using this design, as noted in the video. Thanks to all the other piston posters here on YouTube for any and all ideas I used to put this contraption together!

Here's hoping pistons DO make it into Minecraft itself soon... They are just too much fun.

  • Awsome make a tut

  • @Floppybutt1 There's probably little reason to make a tutorial at this point, as it looks like the pistons that will be going into Minecraft 1.7 won't be able to throw anything, only push. At least, that's what Mojang's preview videos have shown. But even until then, this video gives a view of every block in the design. All the yellow glowstone blocks and white wool blocks can be cobblestone, or anything else. The rest is pistons, redstone, and track. (And levers for track power.)

  • This is quite the interesting contraption. It's just unfortunate that this won't be happening with vanilla minecraft's pistons... oh well.

  • @CJRodgers More than likely, you will be right. We can hope though...

  • I'm djbouly :)

Thank you for use my music ;)

  • @aviv552 And I _did_ use edit cheats to make my work floor, in case that wasn't clear. :) That's not a "play" world, it's a "messing about" world.

  • @Nonsanity oh cool :)

I will try it! but it's hard to get alot of wool without to cheat :(

  • @1boldet As another commenter remarked (@CJRodgers) this "feature" may not hold true when pistons are added to Minecraft proper. This is probably just a result of how the pistons are coded in the original mod. I HOPE this will continue to work, but since it only works in two of the four possible orientations, it's quite likely that it will be "fixed" before pistons see global use... :(

  • @aviv552 It's 5x5(x5 deep) blocks of white and gray wool using the Painterly texture pack. I wanted a floor that made it easy to pace off distances without counting each and every block. Makes a good workspace except for two things: 1) none of the tools dig through wool fast, so its not great if you are doing a lot of digging (I wasn't), and 2) if you use the edit tools to move or copy a chunk from place to place, it can result in miss-aligned wool colors, a minor visual annoyance.

  • WOW I really liked the floor!
