  • A farse yes, but the rebellion could have worked if Essex hadn't have been lied to. The Mayor of London said there was 1000 armed men waiting to aid him!... He was a brave hero!

  • This is as excellent an analysis of those events as I have heard. Spot on. The real farce of the Essex rebellion was that it was all totally unnecessary. The Queen died less than 2 years later, and James ascended without any help from Essex at all. If the fool had only had a little patience. but then, I guess he wouldn't have been a fool, in that case.

  • Mr. Stuart provides so much character to my favorite period of history.
