I don't think you can really judge based only on this video, which is an edited, short version, basically IT IS just a demonstration, but the full audio recording of this tremendous performance do exist (check link in description for free download), and by listening it, you can very well enjoy the act of expression. Though the form, chosen by Reich, can't suit every listener, definitely. But I can't agree that this performance have no artistry in it at all.

It should be out of phase because Reich used phasing technique in this piece. In the beginning two pianos are played synchronously but slowly become out of phase until it has gone full circle.
