As amazing as he sounds, I really hope this doesn't mean he's planning on moving on to LND after he leaves Phantom. No offense meant at all to anyone who likes the show, but I honestly don't like it at all. There are some good things about it - some of the music, the talented actors, but the plot completely ruins it for me. That, and a sequel would be literally impossible considering Erik DIES at the end of the novel.

@06s091 Drama school also have vocal coaching for you need certain techniques to use your voice responsibly. It's possible that the training he had from those lessons were enough to sing the way he does. But I still think he had some more vocal/singing coaching, even if it was just one appointment per year or whatsoever.

@TLKthing3 I've also heard ALW say it in at least one interview.
-
@TLKthing3 According to himself actually. He has said in numerous interviews that he never had singing lessons. He learnt to sing by singing along to different artist as a kid and he then studied acting at drama school - not musical theatre. He mentioned in interview before and after playing Valjean that he got a lesson to get a few techniques to do the "high floaty bits".

@KandTIC it's waaaay too slow. You can even hear John struggling with the slow playing orchestra... John is too early at a lot of moments... The conductor should have noticed.

@06s091 What is your source of information?
Believe me, though some people say otherwise, every succesful singer on the west end has a vocal coach. Some people don't go to them very often, but they do have one.
Some producers even insist that there's some coaching to the lead actors, vocally.
I don't believe Micheal Ball had the carreer he has without any vocal coaching.
If he really didn't have a vocal coach, well... I'll consider him as a god then.

Ben is better.

I thought I hated this song. Then I heard JOJ sing it, and then I realized I just hated Ramin's interpretation.

John Amazing-Jones.

@PhantomOftheOpera25 Yes, move offer, Ramin.

This version runs over 4 minutes whereas others are closer to 3. Don't know whose fault that is. John-Owen kills it, definitely, but I think it would have sounded better faster.
It's from a BBC concert called "Friday Night is Music Night".
