Erected in 1890 by the state of Ohio in memory of Andrews' Raiders, the monument is one of the most unusual in the Chattanooga National Cemetery, Chattanooga, TN. The granite base is topped with a bronze replica of "The General," the Civil War-era locomotive famous for its great chase of 1862. Several participants in the raid, the very first recipients of the Congressional Medal of Honor, are interred at its base.
