I guess the point is that once you do one thing your friends tell you to do you'll do anything. Because, you know, free will is something people are born without nowadays.

To be honest it makes sense. From birth till 18, you do what your parents and teachers tell you. Then you move out, and do what your boss and the government tell you to do. You get married, and your spouse gets thrown in there too, but they're being told what to do too.
