stripping scrap wire, cable, copper aluminum http://rockntv1.blogspot.com/2010/10/wire-stripping-tool.html core any GAUGE gage method and tool by john@ROCKNTV1 IS A WIRE STRIPPING MACHINE home made I was able to do 9' at a time ,because i am a wire stripping machine, using the garage door to string the wire and a pair of visegrips holding a utility knife as sort of a draw blade too slice the insulator loose.Turned out to be a decent day of recycling as the rate was 2.20 /lbs for copper and a buck and change for aluminum ,plus I got the shop cleaned up . TIP : WEAR GLOVES music by my band AUDIO SOLDIER : YOUR TURN TO DIE backyard technology ROCKNTV1

  • So you put the blade in between two sets of grips and pull when I had a go the blade kept snapping am I doing something wrong as I have the same grips as you do thanks.

  • @Yogamartial It is def easier on heavy gauge wire, all you are really trying to do is shave the insulator case if the wire, then it just strips off. If you are breaking blades you are pushing to hard,,shave it

  • in school some 30 years ago we were tought to use a simple knife, knife on the top of the wire thumb below it en voila that is how you strip a wire, no chance of cutting yourself because the copper wire is between the finger and the knife.

  • @happymark1805 lol, i could see needing a thumb protector after a few hundred feet of scrap wire, I strip this way like a draw knife, is good for light and heavy gauge wire ,, thnx

  • Is that # 2 copper now ?

  • @cuginetycoon clean and brite scrap wire is #1 i think
