"The "Kyrie" and the "Credo" are wholly elaborated like the "kasalas" which are still performed according to the Ngandanjika (Kasai); the "Sanctus" and the "Benedictus" were inspired by a magnificent "Parting-song in Kiluba." The "Gloria" is improvised in the typical Kiluba-style of the Katanga. The "Hosannah" is a genuine rhythmic dance of the Kasai, and the "Agnus Dei" is a typical Bena Lulua (Luluabourg) song." (Wikipedia)
In the "Credo" the text (the crucifixion and the death of the Redeemer) is preceded by the usual announcement of death, first on the Kyondo and then on the Kikumvi (Tom-Tom). Then follows a genuine "kilio" (elegy - dead-song) without percussion accompaniment, sung by the solo voice. The doleful tone is stressed by the repeated and sustained o-sounds ("... etiam prono ... bis, sub Pontio Pilato... ). (Wikipedia)
@slippery42
I didn't know that singing hymns was supposed to be a competition.
Thanks for clarifying the nature of life on Earth.

Thank you very much for this post! I love it! Good voices, all! I have been wanting to sing the Sanctus at Mass for years... glad to find some like-minded folk! Saint John Student Parish -- where? Thanks, again, and God bless! -- from Minnesota

Deo Gratias!
Incredibly good performance-everyone is in good voice,and the drummers are flawless.
I have been looking for the sheet music or a CD of the Missa Luba for decades.Just to hear it again is wonderful-this Sanctus is the second piece of music i learned when I joined my grammar school's choir.I have the original vinyl but....
Thank you very much for this.
