Vote for the Edith Bishel Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired on May 27, 2011!
Sheila Turner states why she felt that her program deserved a new Toyota: "It's not that our center or our staff deserves a new Toyota, it's that our clients deserve it. Because they are home bound and cant' get to us we have to be able to get to them. They deserve to live as independently as possible in their own home without the threat of being moved.
Our agency serves 6 eastern Washington Counties. Sheila our Independent Living Skills Teacher is visually impaired herself and has a driver to deliver her and needed resources to clients within an 11,312.9 square mile radius. In 2010 Sheila traveled over 23,000 miles and it costs us an estimated $17,000 a year for her transportation.
