Hi Everyone! My name is John, and I've uploaded this video not just in the memory of lost loved ones, but also to help spread the word out to other's to be safe when driving. In the blink of an eye, EVERYTHING can change! The video was made back in 2002 after a terrible tragedy in which 2 young ladies died, and 3 survived with scars that will never go away. Thursday, May 9, 2002 had begun as a pretty normal day for these 5 teens, but it was a day that would forever change not just their lives but many others around them. I can still remember the candle light vigils held. One was for the first girl that passed at the scene, Natasha Keeter. Then, as we prayed for the survivors we learned we had lost yet another one of our friends. Ashley Troester's mother, Diana, had to make the hardest decision of her life on Sunday, May 12, 2002 (Mother's Day), to unplug her only child from life support. The next day (Monday, May 13, 2002), we had the candle light vigil in memory of Ashley. Four days later (Friday, May 17, 2002), We had the funerals for both of the victims that had passed. Throughout the week, we had all been praying for the survivors to get well, and make a speedy recovery. One survivor did manage to get out of the hospital in time for the funerals. Aleisa Valdez would've originally been celebrating her birthday on this day. However, this time, as she sat in a wheelchair, she was spending her birthday saying good bye to 2 of her dear friends whom she loved very much. Kiley Quinn couldn't make the funeral's, but did make sure to send a note for her Mom to read. Ashley Biersach was the last of the three to be released from the hospital as she had lost a leg in the accident. However, these three girls remained tough troopers. In honor of their friends, and in a effort to help save the lives of other's they took their tragedy, and helped make it a tool of hope, and wisdom. They went around to schools across the Las Vegas valley with LVMPD who had made this video as part of the M.O.T.O.R.S. (Motor Officers Teaching teens On Roadway Survival) Program, and shared their experiences of that tragic day. By doing this it helped to spread the word to other teenage drivers to be safe, and realize that they are indeed NOT invincible. Parents of other students and just people throughout the valley have expressed their gratitude to these girls, and their parents for their work. Since then, we've all been wanting to expand it, and reach out nationally and even internationally with it. To get the message out to everyone and help save other lives. Thanks for reading this and viewing the video. Together we all can make a difference and save lives. God Bless.
P.S. If you have a MySpace page, there's also a page I made there with this story, the video, as well as pics from the scene. The link is http://www.myspace.com/in_the_blink_of_an_eye_02

this video is etched in my brain...for LIFE..listening to my daughter making that 911 call, I just pray I never hear that kind of terror in her voice again..I know it was one of the worst days of her life..and probably always will be. Thanks for posting this, I hope this video is watched around the world and that all the viewers realize that a car can be a deadly weapon, be safe out there...slow down...enjoy life..it can all be over in the blink of an eye..

  • I hope this is helping someone...When we would go out and do the impact program with metro I would be the one to close the talk with"we don't know if any of you are listening or can understand this can happen to you...but if it does we will know...we will see it on the news...read it in the paper...and we will feel pain for you and your family...because this is pain that never heals.."My daughter after 6 years still takes them flowers for there birthday, decorates for christmas, and never forgets.

see all

    RIP Girls

  • sad just sad.... i dont think i'll ever drive now im just 12 and was looking for a song... but this made me cry i just can't handle that just really but sometimes things like this have to happen im not saying this in a meen way but things like this have to happen or young teens will never learn.....

  • About 18 years ago, where I live in Canada there was accident that occured that was almost identical to this one. Teenagers driving too fast managed to wrap their car around a telephone pole. 2 kids were killed.

  • It was my cousin that died.. Natasha..R.I.P..

  • This is a very good video, ...good in the sense that the testimony of the witnesses and the memory of the ones who died can provide a message to thousands of young people. Teens really do tend to think they are invinceable and don't realize how quickly life can change (or end). This video should be mandatory high school curriculum and certified by the school principal in order for any new driver's permit or license.

  • I remember my stepdad was an officer who put on presentation of this at Centennial High School and I got to actually meet the girls and hear their stories. It brought tears to my eyes and I sat in a chair with tears rolling down my face. I am so proud of these girls for staying strong and believing in themselves.

    R.I.P. girls

  • oh my god even though bad things happen must we must not give ^ or 4get faith we still must realize that there iz a GOD!

    (RIP Girlz)
