This is a little review of The Stand, a science fiction/horror novel by Stephen King (I'm a dork, I read okay?). This book is about a superflu that escapes from a man who wrecks at a gas station that had the flu, called Captain Trips. Very great book.

Please note that I could not find the uncut edition, so I had to settle for buying the 823 page book. Still a great read though. Also reccomended by Stephen King are "The Shining", "Pet Sematary", "The Dead Zone", "Desperation" and "Needful Things".

  • This book is AMAZING.

  • After all the sex drugs and rock n roll, reading The Stand, The Lord of the Rings, and The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy are still some of my best memories from being a dumbshit teenager.

If you like this book, I would strongly recommend Cormac McCarthy’s Pulitzer winning “The Road"

  • That book you hold is the original version, which contains around 800 pages. The Complete and Uncut edition contains over 1400 pages, which changes the setting to more modern, which is in the 1990s

Plus, The Stand is more of a Post-Apocalyptic Horror/FANTASY novel. Just to let you know.

  • @Blackboilingrobotoil The Lord of the Rings Trilogy by J.R.R. Tolkien is one of the inspirations of Stephen King to write The Stand. He said he wanted to make a fantasy like The Lord of the Rings, but with "an American setting".

  • I'm currently reading the Complete and Uncut edition of "The Stand" and as it is long(1,439 pages) it's VERY good!

  • Gewwd and Evuul.

  • How come you could find the rarest version of the book, but not the uncut (everywhere, practically) version? I'd give a hand up to have your copy, man hahah. I just decided yesterday to take a break from the uncut because I was so damn bored.

  • My book is 1,300 pages -__- I'm currently on page 1,089 it's quite a good book.

  • @Blackboilingrobotoil yes, 2 books I have read over and over....

  • you couldn't take seriously this books, it sucks... the hand of god kill all the "villains"? what the fuck. Stephen king will be forgotten, like somerset maugham was. The dark tower is even worse.

  • I love this book too...it is my favorite...

  • Horror novel see video book trailer
