hese are definitely the Original London Cast Lyrics, by far the best, in my opinion. I have seen the show 34 times all over the place and the original London verson still stands the test of time. The nuance in the timings and the lyrics are by far the best.
The first version was is What If He Doesn't Come Back Home Tonight.
Ellen starts with "I came here to understand..." NTISH is much more in line with that opening and shows a third side of Ellen. Played by the right actresses it's impossible to favour one of Kim or Ellen over the other.
Playing Ellen as understanding and almost torn apart by her sympathy for Kim and her love for Chris, makes the story more complex and not black & white which an arrogant and egocentric Ellen does.
yeah...I noticed the change in the lyrics too.. cuz' i auditioned this song for Ms. Saigon with these lyrics but the song on the cd has been changed, I mean the lyrics of the song...
I agree..some how Now that I've seen Her makes her sound a little more...heartless...it's her or me...makes you feel that ellen cares about Kim but she doesn't want to loose chris
I think they are the original london cast lyrics...like on the cd I used to have (I think I wore two copies of this show out....lol) then I saw somewhere they changed the song to Now That I've Seen Her. poor ellen since she didn't know...but poor Kim gets left behind because chris is a moron and tells her she has time to go home and pack.
again high praises to your ellen, it not often that i like the person playing this part. Often you dont belive that shes ready to truly fight for her husbond, but in this case i do. Do you have room 317? i would love to se her do that....
i heard all of the words to this song and i cried..
