Stage 4 is short, at just 81 miles, but what it lacks in distance it makes up with three grueling climbs. Two of the climbs are legendary in California lore.
Spectacular views of Silicon Valley... blah blah blah. Every time I ride over Mt Hamilton, the only thing I notice about the Santa Clara Valley is that every possible road is like riding on a freeway, built by a county that never considered the thought that a cyclist would ever use the roads. You take your life into your own hands while trying to split your attention between opening car doors and people trying to squeeze you off of the road so that they can make a right turn in front of you
Was this written by the Livermore tourist association or something? What a shameless promotion of the city's "attractions"... talk about the race, not your city.
I got Proof that the Tour of California started in 1971. Amgen has only been with it for six years. if you don't believe me check google.
