Happy new guitar DAY!!! I picked this baby up yesterday and this is my first test run. I am wholeheartedly impressed by the quality of this guitar. It is a 1998 so its quite old, but it is almost spotless. It has a 5 way rotary switch for the pickups that I run through. It offers many different arrangements which is cool. It has the standard dual humbucker options with some strat-ish sounding tones too. It is different than I'm used to but still very cool.

I am running into a locally built overdrive/boost, a danelectro cool cat drive v. 1, and finally into a Fender Blues Junior NOS. Settings:

volume - 5
fat - off
treble - 9
bass - 6
mid - 6
master - 3
reverb - 2

  • Hi,

Nice demo, we have the same taste in gear. I got a Frenzel Deluxe with 6V6 tubes... amazing! I was thinking about grabbing a 1990 PRS CE 24 too. Do you still have it/like it? Is there something else I should be looking at for a versatile, well built guitar ?

    Regards,

  • @DanAuerbachFan - Nice work on the Frenzel, I absolutely love mine still about 4 years in. I sold my CE24 soon after I bought it solely because I preferred a wide/fat neck shape. I got a PRS McCarty instead and love it. I really did like the CE24, it was one of the best made/highest quality guitar I have ever owned. The fit and finish was impeccable and I bought it quite old and used. Almost every PRS is exactly the same story, which really speaks to their quality as a company.

  • I'm finding that most of these PRS CE24's demonstrated here are out of tune....is there possibly an issue with these guitars?

  • @lauraslook - I've found most tuning issues on any guitar to be the result of:

    -user error

    -poor setup

    -poorly cut nut

    -weird tremolo system

Every PRS I've played has had immaculate fit/finish and the tremolo on this guitar was fantastic. I'd play one in real life, youtube can only give you so much.

  • @gnrrocks123 -1998, I can't say enough about how nice this guitar was. One of the most well made, best looking, and nicest playing guitars I've ever had. I wasn't crazy about the neck shape and the pickups, but those are mostly a personal taste. PRS makes a nice guitar!

  • what year is this
