GEORGE HARRISON ELECTRONIC SOUND PART 1....

About Electronic Sound

Electronic Sound is George Harrison's second solo album, and the second and final record released on the Beatles' short-lived Zapple Records (an offshoot of Apple Records), before it was folded at the insistence of The Beatles' then-manager Allen Klein. Released in May 1969, it features two lengthy pieces, one per side on the original vinyl release, performed on the Moog synthesizer.

Portions of white noise from "No Time or Space" are used throughout "I Remember Jeep", one of several jams included on Harrison's third solo album, All Things Must Pass, released in 1970.

The cover of Electronic Sound was painted by Harrison himself. The inside sleeve included minimal notes on the album, and a quote, attributed to "Arthur Wax": "There are a lot of people around, making a lot of noise; here's some more."

Due to its experimental and highly uncommercial nature, Electronic Sound failed to chart in the UK, and barely made the US Billboard album chart, peaking at #191.

Synthesist Bernie Krause later pursued legal action against Harrison, claiming side two of the record was essentially him demonstrating the Moog III to Harrison (as detailed in his book Into A Wild Sanctuary). Krause's name was originally featured on the front cover under Harrison's, but was painted over in print at Krause's insistence.

The album was issued on CD for the first time in late 1996.

  • ok it's obviously him just having fun with this new electronic toy (you have to remember that this thing was still really new ... it basically debuted at the Monterey Pop Festival in 1967). but it still ups my respect for him as someone interested in more than just writing successful pop songs (*cough* paul mccartney *cough*)

  • I wish you would, I think this album's pretty cool.

  • Paul and Ringo were the only artists it seemed not to do any advant garde music (until Paul did one in about 2000) because they weren't on Revolution 9. Am i right?

    (excusing carnival of light)

  • George having fun whilst stoned with his new synth.

    He's allowed, he's a Beatle...he's earned his dues.

You obviously never listened to any of Paul's work under the name 'the fireman'.

  • @1982pencil

george is the only beatle who became old and didnt regress as a musician.

there are amazing songs on his last album

  • Humans, we are an odd lot. Do you think its like we are missing somthing? Like along the way somwhere, we as a species have somehow forever lost some vital piece of our mental make up.

  • no, this is not rubbish......it's one of the most relaxing things..if one lies down in a dark room and plays the cd....samed thing with "Apple Jam". thanks for posting

  • i was deeply offended and struck right in the groin after hearing this rubbish! after the golden age of perry como it's hard to come off that golden calf!

  • @1982pencil Don't forget, Paul liked the far-out crazy stuff like Frank Zappa and Pink Floyd in 1966, and it was Paul who came up with tracks like Carnival of Light. Paul introduced the other Beatles to experimental music.
