Honestly most rappers are pretty smart and have gone to college. It's the industry though. It's one of those things they warn you about with the media controlling what you perceive. Most rappers are looked at as drop outs or thugs. Even Gucci Mane went to college for computer science. However, he didn't graduate. He got kicked out for selling drugs. Smh.

anybody commenting on plies' apparent intelligence in interviews as opposed to the way he is portrayed in his music should take a second to think about tupac (acknowledged as one of the greatest rappers to ever live) who attended Julliard, was also a very eloquent speaker. no, plies doesn't rap about staying in school but tell the truth, how many young people do you know that would actually listen to that song? Case and point. The game is a facade. He's obviously intelligent. He understand that gangsta rap is commercial right now. Again, GANGSTA RAP IS COMMERCIAL. Had he been rapping in the early 90's, his lyrics would've been completely different. He in it to make money.
