I"m still struggling on how to do the chain stitch but I will be patient.

Out of all the "how to crochet" videos on you tube, yours were the easiest to understand. It's your attention the detail that make your tutorials the BEST I've seen by far. THANK YOU! :D

I have a question, when you start to sc, I understand you skip the first chain and then insert the hook in the 2nd one to start, my question is, do you keep skipping a chain before you insert hook or is this only at the first time?
Thank you!

@MelindaPuente only the first one. In crochet the working loop is almost always at the top of the stitch. This chain moves your yarn to the height of a single crochet stitch.

@xxXxxdancerrrxxXxx I'm not sure. I often use scraps for my videos. I think its Red Heart Super saver, but it could be another acrylic worsted weight medium number 4 yarn.

Thank you so much for these videos. I am having a problem with my single crochet rows that I have tried many times to correct and nothing I do seems to fix it. After several rows the corners of my work starts to curl. This is not happening on my half double crochet rows or double crochet rows just the single crochet rows. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks for your time.

@jct2u You are doing nothing wrong. This stitch naturally curls. To lessen the curl use a larger hook. It will curl anyway. You can block the piece when you are finished by wetting it and pinning it in place and let it dry over night. For acrylic, you should use steam.
