  • You Have Coach, Or A Sleeping Room?

  • we had a standard viewliner bedroom.

  • Great observation! This was our dining car on the silver star to Florida.

  • We rode the Autotrain to Florida this past June with a bedroom w priv. bath. It was a 17 hr trip. The food was VG, there was a wine and cheese hour, movies in the lounge and the beds were comfortable. Service was VG. Between visits to the lounge car, observation car, dining car and during the time spent relaxing in our bedroom it all was outstanding. We now favor rail travel and avoid the dirty, cramped, dehumanizing crowded atmosphere where the airlines treat you like an animal.

  • I would not travel any other way. About to take my 4th trip and always get the room - coach would make me nuts (Kids, noise, etc)

  • @cuttingwoodnow No the food is actually very good and it's not microwaved. I've seen them make it on a stove.

  • Amtrak rocks and soon it will become the elite of all rail travel! Great food and great service, who could ask for more? T.C. 4-18-2010

  • Smart!!! Have fun.

  • were going to philadelphia pa by train from cary nc.were going to be in a viewliner roomette so we wont have to worry about excessive noise.

  • and charging outrages prices for crappy microwavable foods

  • oooh, Jacksonville

  • That is the POS sub car. The real ones are much nicer.

  • I always get the Deluxe Bedroom while traveling on the Coast Starlight LA - SEA, but it has steadily gone downhill in quality and service .... and it still is priced at about $850 one way !!!! NOT WORTH IT !
