More to the point, time doesn't move at the same rate everywhere in the universe, and it was quite different at the time of the Big Bang. So the Six Days are on a completely different scale. (Search for Dr. Gerald Schroeder.)

I'm a Christian, too, Jonathan, but if the Earth & universe are only 6000 years old then their Creator is a prankster. That is inconsistent with His character.

Genesis 1 gives the order of creation, but the "days" are metaphorical. In the days of Moses & earlier, before invention of the place-value system of numbers, there was simply no way to express numbers like a "4 billion." God's revelation conveys as much information as its recipients could handle, as accurately as they could understand.
