  • There is no specific way to sing a song or an aria....the point is what it needs to convey...Since when the music language obtained levels or labels? She has made me cry so that is more than enough....I study classical singing for many years now and no classical singer has made me feel like this about this aria....Bravo Hayley <3 you are unique

  • @TheOnlyAlexandra I was merely expressing my honest and sincere opinion as an opera fan who has been listening to opera his whole life and has heard this aria performed by all the greats such as Te Kenawa,Southerland,Gheorghiu and I feel this woman should stick to pop music as should all the other popera singers.

  • @FaunsAfternoon Why do you think Hayley has performed this badly, true I admit that she does not have a naturally operatic voice but she has put her own label on this song and made listening to it very enjoyable in my view

  • @FaunsAfternoon classical music's sole purpose is not making people cry. For me it's even painful to hear her. She's pretty I'll give her that but you should know better those two are different.

If it REALLY made you cry you should give double credit to Puccini because his music is so beautiful that it might evoke such emotions even if it's performed terribly.

  • I think she went about singing this all wrong. The Vibratto was not there at all. And the her voice type doesn't fit the song. Did it sound good? It depends on the listener. I didn't really like it because I know how its supposed to sound. Try listening to Leontyne Price sing this song, and compare it. POLAR OPPOSITES. But I do commend Hayley for trying, so Bravo.

  • @FaunsAfternoon i disagree... there are specific conventions as on how to sign certain tipology of music. You shall know after studying classical music. But of course, this is my own opinion after studying all types of music for more than 20 years...

Do I think this type of vocalization. Not for this song, it sounds flat and cocky. I am sure in a different type of music she is going to sound astonishing. But again, it is my opinion and not meant to hurt anybody.

  • @FaunsAfternoon

You statement is ridicolous. What do you mean? I've got a beautiful voice, so I can sing in tune tenor arias...So I'm an opera singer?

Listen to Andrea Bocelli singing belcanto arias like "Pour mon ame" or "A te o cara", and as the pain gets deeper and deeper you'll understand that you're digging for gold in a "copper mine".

  • @sprayberryjoy p.s. convince me. netrebko ?

  • @sprayberryjoy ok, 1) my opinions may appear absurd to you but that is merely a comment about your own intolerance.

    2) i did not suggest that the operatic voice isnt supposed to be hard work.

    3) "opera is not natural" = false in my book! learn english!

    4) any composer prays for the performance of his work that moves the audience, this does. the operatic voice does not,

    5) there are occasions when you may be right.

  • @viago2 false trained opera voice?? IT'S AN ART. YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO WORK HARD TO PERFECT IT. Opera is not natural, nor has anyone claimed it is. It's hugely impressive and beautiful to hear a true trained voice (not the beautiful Haley, sorry) perform it. Unbelievable what kind of absurdity some people possess.

  • Check out Irish Soprano Ruth Kelly Bradys version of this on iTunes, she is an up and coming singer and does a fabulous version of this aria!

  • @AlexiaHollerdude I did not call her an opera singer...I called her a singer with a rare gift and color that moved me and a color that no operatic singer has given me the same way yet...But still this is my personal opinion...I know how opera works I love opera and I praise its values and the struggle it takes for a singer to be an opera singer..
