p.s cut those little ones who are coming from the bottom , and put them on water to let them shoot roots ;) , and the plant will focus on shooting in to air than rather being bizzy with the little shoots to get them in the sun light ;)
Take care and i hope that you will responds my fellow advocado lover :)

Lol do like I do, cut the shoots off the base and stick them in water until they grow roots lol works for me! I have 6 indoor trees off of 1seed/plant lol

@mcnugitz My trees need a lot of water the leaves droop when they need water. I would try seven dust on the flies.

I have a question. About 4ish months ago, I planted one from seed into the ground (in a lawn with grass). Everything's been going smoothly and it's been super healthy up until the last 5 days. Whenever I come home (at around 4:00pm) all the leaves are drooping (the entire tree is about 1.5 feet tall). What's the problem and how can I solve it? Also, there's a lot of small flies on the leaves eating small holes, is this causing the leaf drooping problem, and how can I stop that also?

I'm no horticulturist but if I may make a suggestion. Looks like your plant needs Magnesium Sulfate. Get a bag of Epsom Salt. Just follow directions on the bag. That's usually what's needed when the plant has yellow leaves towards the bottom or beginning of the plant. Good luck. I hope this helps.

I started my seed from the jar with water. I added a multi vitamin in the water, let it dissolve and left it in for 2 days, then changed the water , once a month, I left the seed in the jar until the roots cramped .l, then planted it in a pot with good soil , kept it indoors in the winter. It is now 2 years old and it is 3 feet high with a bark trunk, I never pruned it. I just planted out doors . It is doing great. If it dont fruit it will make a great shade tree.

@markowe Ya that's what I was thinking! Where in Colorado is there a Avocado tree? Wonder if you could use budding or set hormone to get fruit?
-
@markowe Well, I don't know i fyou have a Home Depot where you live, but they have grafted Avocado trees for sale year-round.
I have grown my avocado not by putting them into the water at first but in the dirt. They grow there as well. Is that good or should I have let it in water at the start?
I knew at certain point I have to prun it too.

@michelb08 Oh no, the water thing is just so you can watch them shoot and everything. They grow just fine in the earth too, it's just you don't know until they sprout. It's probably BETTER for them to grow in earth in the long run.

We need an update! I started growing these things because of this video

@sagalian I have a confession - the plants I originally had that I videoed here came to an untimely end. I think I either failed to water them or the frost caught them, I forget which. But soon after I planted another one, just stuck it in the ground, and it's doing great! This time though I'll prune it!

Guys/Gals. Grafting will give you fruit faster. The plant in the video is ready to be grafted. Look up that term here on youtube and you will find a video on how to do three different types of grafts. Essentially, you take a branch from an already fruiting avocado tree and connect it to your plant(which you'll have to cut). Your seed grown plant will serve for a strong root base and the newly added top portion of the tree will fruit within two years as opposed to 10

@Mario1057 Wow, that's getting serious! I guess I never really thought that far ahead, but you're right, grafting is how most fruit is got these days. Now, where'm I going to get an already-fruiting avocado tree..? :)
