In this video, Dj takes you through the modified wallis cast and demonstrates the step by step process you should practice to master what some consider the most difficult centre-pinning cast to learn. • Bugpumper- This is not a personal opinion, but fact. The clicker, on most reels, is design to prevent to spool from spinning for transport and storage. There are some reels that have adjustable drags, Okuma Sirata comes to mind, but there aren't many. I find it difficult to imagine that the enjoyment of a direct connection to the fish can be had if the transport clicker is screaming away and grinding teeth between the two of you? Palm the reel and find the true adrenaline rush!

  • thank you, very clear and articulate. as a person researching and just about to purchase my first center pin, this helps tremendously

  • @Erickolcin I'm glad that you found it beneficial!

  • whats the proper type of rod to use with a CP reel

  • @monsterholics A spinning noodle rod or a "float" rod.

  • Got a new (to me) Raven sitting on the porch waiting to be used. Best video I've seen so far...actually has me thinking I can pull this off :) We'll see....

  • @downtownjohnnybrown Glad we could help. If you need any further assistance, visit our site and I'll try my best to guide you through the process. If I can't help, there will certainly be another forum member who can. Dj

  • Useful for fishing 'The Lift Method' too where you can click ' incrementaly' to sink the float to depth but, not lock the spool. Not relevant to steelhead methods though.

  • We've fished centrepins for decades and yes, clickers are only for stopping spools rotate during a carry or when you are using a second rods etc. I had my first pin in 1967. Good video.

  • Its too loud

  • Ya try fishing an imperial with the clicker on while fighting a fish...i could do it with my aventa but not a chance with the imperial

  • Is this your personal opinion that its a "transport" clicker? Thats a strange term to me. Seems to me if that was true it would just have a brake not a clicker. I ask because I'm an experienced fisher and I like to have the clicker on sometimes to hear the reel scream out line, There's really no drag so I get the full enjoyment of the simple direct to the fish feel.

  • So, do you lift your finger that breaks the spool the same time as you pull down with your pull/guide hand?
