NO ONE TOLD ME THIS EITHER! I ate a shit ton of pineapple and it burn all the skin around my mouth. I looked like I had some kind of disease! Not cool Bro. Supposedly it's so acidic that if you left your fingers in a pot of pineapple juice overnight it will burn your finger tips off. :/

what makes it hurt isn't the acid, as many people think, but it's the proteases, which kinda partly digest your mouth, irritating it. the same applies to kiwis, which have other kinds of proteolytic enzymes.
