The CUNY School of Professional Studies in conjunction with the Gronstedt Group developed the virtual world based Emergency Shelter Simulation Course on behalf of the New York City Office of Emergency Management in the platform of Second Life. This simulation took Second Place in the Artificial Intelligence Assisted Category of the Federal Virtual Worlds Challenge, an annual event led by the U.S. Army Research Laboratory-Simulation & Training Technology Center awarding the best of the best in virtual world use.
