La "Salsa Caleña," a dancing style created in Cali, Colombia

Salsa Caleña has been a minor style in N.Y.C. historically because the majority of Latinos in N.Y.C. were from Puerto Rico, where there, they dance Salsa On 2. Studios salsa styles are predominately Salsa On 2. This studio decided to offer Salsa Caleña and the style became a growing trend and a success.
This particular dancing style grew from Cali, Colombia. It's Salsa On 1, danced on the first beat of the music.
Cali is also known as "La capital de la Salsa."
