My study book says you can say diez y sies and dieciséis. What's the difference?

I noticed that there's no accent in numbers 2,3, and 6 after following 30, 40,50, 60, 70, 80, and 90, BUT there's an accent dieciséis, veintidós, veintitrés, and veintiséis. Why is that??

I think what Lorena Vallejos is trying to explain is that when you combine the words:

dieci(dós/trés/séis), veinti(dós/trés/séis), it's because they have one syllable and you must force the emphasis to the last syllable. Once you add more syllables to these words, since they end in 's', the natural stress falls on the second to last syllable, which would be the 'i'... so imagine saying, diecIseis (emphasizing the 'i')...

Thus we add the accent marks. With 30, 40, etc, we spell it separate.
