"Because the information superhighway these companies helped build has remained open to all and free of arbitrary tolls, it's been home to an unlimited profusion of new and novel companies. It's the basis of the greatest exchange of ideas, opinions and information in human history. It has become instrumental to our economy and to our international political system. And it has allowed a free market to truly flourish. Today anyone with an idea or business concept can chat with literally billions of others. Open telecommunication systems have broken down walls and made old barriers obsolete. But my colleagues and I are not exaggerating when we say all of that is threatened by this bill. It permits major telecom corporations to serve those who can pay them the most better than those who can't pay."

  • Power given to local officials and mayors by the federal government (house of reps)?Isn't the power to local officials given by local voters? When local officials get power from above your vote no longer matters. The party in power Dem or Repub scares the shit out of me.The simple minority scares me more

  • I mostly agree, but what about Hillary's attempted attack on Grand Theft Auto, or Gore's attack on music in the 80's? Attempts to censor media for the good of the family usually, sadly, come from Democrats.

  • Rep Slaughter for President. Time and Time again she speaks TRUTH where and when noone else does. I believe the vote failed this week in the house (to protect Net Neutrality) :( We must speak up!

  • Thank you very much for recording this video!

  • Wow, never heard a woman know more about the internet and are needs as US citizens than here! I am for Net-Neutrality!

  • they are elected to represent us. how can they sit there and listen to such a lovely speech and still stand unflinchingly on the side of injustice? how can they possibly vote in this way and pretend that they have their constituent's interests in mind? i hate to be partisan, but why must democrats always work so hard to try and stop attacks on our rights and our pursuit of happiness?

  • Mrs. Slaughter speaks the truth. The free and equal exchange on the internet should be possible to all citizens.

  • I have a question, what happens when we get viruses, does the government pay for my virus ridden computer? o.o
