  • Hi Doug,

DId you scan the perspective to get it into Illustrator and Photoshop?

Also are your vanishing points at random or is there a method to choosing them?

    Thanks.

    Great vids btw.

  • @caramel07 yes. and yes. random. the original was too squashed, so I stretched in photoshop.

  • which program do you use to draw?.. i use autocad but i wanna try other programs.. thank you

  • Do you focus on the outward appearance of your drafts first, or do you start with the floor plan and work your way to the exterior looks?

  • both:)

  • hi can you make a guide on cad please for newbies ? thank you

  • @howtoarchitect Did you do them at random because the drawing program had nothing to measure with? That's why it looked squashed. I never place my vanishing points at random, I place them according to a specified angle, 90 degrees at the station point. I'm not an architect though, but I found the video interesting just the same. Cheers.

  • Hey Doug, I have recently completed Grade 10 of high school and I have done quite well in art class but i do not think I can draw homes/ buildings well...Should drawing (in general) be a talent of someone even before they go to post-secondary, or is it something I will be able to build on and eventually be great at? The reason I am asking this is because I would enjoy pursuing a career in architecture and I want to know if I will succeed, even though my drawing skills are not amazing. Thanks.

  • nice concept arch, imagine how this would look in suburbia as a garage. your series are immensely helpful thanks!

  • if im 15 and dont get this should I not go into architecture LOL

  • does elevation has to be one side? or can you do 4 elevations shwoing all 4 sides :)

  • i dont get this

  • I have a question:

Let's say that you're trying to build a roller coaster track in 2 point perspective using the floor plan and elevation as you have done here. Since roller coaster tracks are rather organic in shape, is there a preferred view to create the elevation plan from, before tackling the 2 point perspective? It just seems like it'd get very confusing to build.
