  • Great job I would like to know what size plywood you used for the open boxes

  • Past few questions..........................

Size of plywood is 4x8 sheet of skin thickness which is about 1/8 thick...............

Fan can be purchased at "Lamps Plus" really moves the air around, not just straight down............

Powered screw gun and air gun for nailing seemed to help not being stuck with my head and neck upside down to long . If I was in business a roll around platform is what I would purchase for sure.........

  • Thanks.......Well I cut them from 4'x8' plywood first so the boxes are 8 feet long to begin with before cutting some for the installation of course at where the cross other beams. The boxes are 7 inches wide and 5 inches deep at the sides. Why 7 inches wide ? Because the oak facing could be cut that size out of a 4x8 sheet with minimal waste..... Thanks for positive comments

  • Thanks for nice comments...... As for the concerns about it getting dirty. I used quality paints and finishes so it's sealed up pretty good and is washable. If I want to cook some of my signature Tex-Mex egg roles or some other frying I use our out door barbeque side burner and make all the smoke I want..... Thanks....

  • Thanks for nice comments........ I stained and sealed the plywood as a whole sheet and then cut into the 6 inch strips. Staining (golden oak) was applied with a foam brush to full sheet and then using a rag I wiped off to desired darkness. I brushed on the 3 coats of polyurethane with a regular brush. Thanks....

  • We ordered the trim rings on line but we saw them at Home depot the other day.... they connect by inter springs same as other trim rings......thanks for comment

  • Turned out great!

  • I played this twice, one for the information and then again for the music.

  • Thank you so much..

    Your kitchen looks super nice

    What thickness is the plywood.

  • Great job ... Thanks for sharing. I wana know where can I get one of those ceiling fan.

    Thanks!

  • So, how does your neck feel after standing on a ladder and looking up while installing the ceiling? Or, is there a better way to do this? I am about to attempt similar ceiling treatment for the entertainment room, and the one thing I am dreading is the "pain in the neck" syndrome from holding, positioning, nailing all the beams and crown in place. Any ideas (in lieu of just using Ben Gay), would be greatly appreciated.

  • For some reason it just doesnt look right!

  • very impressed can't let the wife see this,

  • Wow...That is absolutely gorgeous. Great work.

  • Very nice!!!

  • simply stunning!!!

  • what year was that done 1980?

  • unnecessary stuff..Make life simple.

  • Crazy cool ceiling.... if I could only comprehend your jig... wow. Blows my mind.

  • WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Very nice thx for the great vid!! Love the kitchen!!!

  • Really nice but that fan is ugly as hell

  • love the music......

  • Nice work. Can you give me the dimensions of your open-faced boxes? Width of bottom and sides?

  • The diagonal pattern is interesting, must have been a lot of work. I would have gone with either painted or stained surfaces but not both. I noticed some gaps in the oak plywood skin and crown molding which may have been caused by uneveness in the plywwood box substrates and not coping the crown molding corners. Bed molding may have been a better alternative to the crown molding. Since you went to the trouble of relocating the recessed light fixtures you should relocate the ceiling vent.

  • @vadzak It stained that way because the plywood that was stained was the outer wrapping, which he used oak sheathing for, not regular pine.

  • This is Awesome!!!!! GREAT job

  • WOW !!!!!! is all I can say ..... WOW
