Every minute somewhere in the world a woman dies in pregnancy or childbirth. 99% of these deaths are in developing countries. Almost all of these can be prevented.
We already know how to save mothers lives, empower women and invest in health. Yet today, complications in pregnancy and childbirth remain the leading killer of women in the developing world.
Why does this still happen? Many people simply dont know about it. And in many places women are not a priority.
The White Ribbon Alliance for Safe Motherhood is raising awareness of this shameful injustice and demanding deep-rooted political change to end the needless deaths of mothers around the world.
