The M5 was introduced a few years after the more advanced G5. The latest unit, which is just called Laserwash, was introduced in 2009.

The Laserwash M5 was designed as a low-cost replacement for the Laserwash 4000. An active ultrasound system dynamically adjusts for the width and length of the vehicle, greatly reducing the chance of a vehicle strike. A revised chemical mixing system greatly improves chemical delivery performance and eliminates the need for purging. The new belt drive system is faster and requires no maintenance.
