Bizerka : Kopanitsa and Gankino Horo (Bulgarian Tunes

Melbourne's crazy gypsy dance music band, Bizerka play 2 Bulgarian tunes in 11/8 timing - a Kopanitsa in A minor and Gankino Horo by the famous Accordion player Boris Karlov. These were recorded at Yackandandah Festival March 2008.

"Traditionalists" is not generally a word you'd associate with Bizerka - they don't believe that you have to imitate the exact style of the original music - as long as it's true to the feeling and doesn't do it an injustice, then all is good.

Nice! I really appreciate your spirited attack, these tunes are completely miserable in the hands of lesser musicians - bravo!

Tdjekova - please enlighten the ignorant - are there stories or lyrics that go with these songs? I only know them as dance music, and would love to have greater understanding.
