Education is fundamental to the transformation of leadership in Africa, says Patrick Awuah '89, president and founder of Ashesi University College in Ghana. Awuah modeled the school, the country's first to adopt the liberal arts method, on Swarthmore. Awuah spoke about his goals for Ashesi, which graduated its first class in 2006, at the 2007 TED Conference.

This is so good! I just returned from Uganda, where we we interviewed primary and secondary school students about what makes a good leader (among other things) and I really would like for them to see this! Thank you!
