Were you watching my childhood? It was just as you describe.
And I'm still searching for those out-of-print treasures, some so rare and forgotten that they aren't even available on line. (Though on-line bookstores make obtaining physical copies a bit easier, theoretically...)

You just reminded me to go look up The Crippled Masters on YouTube, the tracking on my VHS copy in the 80's was pretty rough...

Back when I copied VHS to VHS, I'd make sure the tracking on the playback deck was perfect before making the copy- of course I still do now when transferring to DVD, which then can make infinite perfect copies.

awesome film! I laughed out loud at the "glass houses"/"whipped cream & other delights" line - an accuracy that sadly remains today.
