May 2009. A feast of A4's as streaks 60007 SIR NIGEL GRESLEY and 60009 UNION OF SOUTH AFRICA are back where they belong on ECML metals hauling day 1 and 3 of The Coronation rail tour to and from bonny Scotland.
First 60007 accelerates through Heaton, Newcastle. Then two days later 60009 flashes through Bensham to Gateshead's Tyne Yard for a water stop. Finally no 9 races over the viaduct which dominates the skyline of Chester le Street in Co Durham.

  • I wish I'd photographed and filmed them when I was young. As it is all I got was colour slides of Kingfisher at Newcastle Central on a 1966 special and a slide of the cab of 60005 withdrawn at the side of Aberdeen Ferryhill shed.

  • be nice to see em with the wheels faired in occasionally

    thanks for posting

  • Thanks for filming and posting!! Lovely shot of Chester Viaduct!!!

  • Great Video, 5 Stars!

  • goood steam video mate:)

  • Very very nice, esp the Chester-le-Street clip. I was travelling up to Edinburgh on ordinary train today and saw the Union behing held in a loop or siding somewhere between Berwick and Dunbar. I got a clip of Gresley near Darlington on Sat too.
