Suprock Technonlogies demonstrates a basic magnetohydrodynamic pump made from three materials: plastic, copper, and rare earth magnet. An electric current is passed between copper electrodes mounted in a polyethylene C channel. The C channel is resting on top of a magnet. The the Lorentz force is produced by the cross product of B and E fields, propelling the water forward. This is the same physics governing a rail gun. However, this experiment shows a more controlled demonstration of the science.

The current was 500mA distributed over approximately 2cm^2 of electrode contact on both anode and cathode. The fluid is a low concentration salt water.
