Why are there so many libertarians here?

Capitalism is the root of this problem. "Cronyism" as you call it only keeps the money within the cycle that it would be in the absence of gov't anyway.

The real political change must be to:

1. Realize that there is no short term money crisis. All the money in our current national debt is very cheap and mostly paid for. It's long term mandatory spending like health and military that is a problem.

2. We are under control of corporations, not politicians.

This is all happening because the governments of the world are too big, not because of capitalism. Big corporations and banks get their power thru government. The more government is involved in the financial district, the worse it all becomes. "Regulate the banks", they shout..Banks influence financial regulations in THEIR favor. Big pharma influences medical regulations in THEIR favor. When the government grows supposedly in our interest, their power becomes exploitable by the elite.
