Rule Britannia is not to be sung by a tenor. The voice, needed must be powerful an strong, so Potts - a good tenor - is not the right for this great piece of music.
Just look for the last night of the proms and you will find better presentations.
b.t.w. as a German I always want to be British while listening to it.

I think he sung this marvelously. Compare it to the baritone Bryn Terfel. The tenor adds the ringing, trumpet-like uptone at the end the song requires. Even despite the poor recording, Potts' rendition is the more interesting and inspiring.

This is aural anaesthesia. Makes a mockery of all our hard studying singers. He's no ambassador for Wales or England quite frankly!

This is not the Paul Potts I heard, the Paul Potts I heard some years ago in Harrogate sang Nessun Dorma and other operatic music incredible, he's a brilliant tenor.
Few of Pauls better videos I reccomend.
Paul Potts Prague Granada
Paul Potts Polish Talent Final
Paul Potts singt La Prima Volta in Oberhausen
Paul Potts in Reykavik O Holy Night
Paul Potts in Jeon Ju S.Korea sings (Nessun Dorma) version hold its own with any.
Like me people have become fans after seeing him in concert live

dreadful, his timing is way out, I fell so sorry for the orchestra & conductor...

Paul Potts...Awful. It's not meant to be sung by a tenor but he's not a tenor at all anyway.

This is painful. Is it the recording or is he just way out of his depth?

@prysmith37 yeah not great, suppose the recording isnt the best, but not really the best choice of song for a tenor like PP

When you put yourself out there you have to be perfect. Not being a pro does not mean that whatever you do is good.
As an amateur I can cook a decent meal but not enough to be a chef. If Paul wants to sell himself as a singer I suggest he takes a couple of years out to do proper training and then when he is absolutely perfect he can join the rat race.
But at the moment he is making a fool of himself.

why is it crap?!?
iv'e no idea.
Ask his vocal coach or perhaps the person who teaches him music.
what he is doing there is not singing or music.
As far as recommending something not crap um.....
Try Pavarotti or Bocelli or Domingo or Carreras or Bjorling or Scipa or Florez or Brownlee...
Oh come on use your imagination
