I found something while rummaging around in a drawer. Back in the winter of '06 Jaan and I opted to make a little extra cash from the pre-Christmas craft circuit, and that means ornaments. Lots of ornaments. Which, along with paperweights, small vases, perfume bottles and bongs are the bread and butter of the glass world. Unfortunately after our first go, the hope that people would have at least heard of glassblowing before quickly dried up.
"Neat, where did you get these from?"
"Oh, we made all of these, we're glassblowers."
"Hey, wow, so, how did you paint them?"
"They're not painted, it's all coloured glass, all the patterns are done hot with liquid glass."
" I never even knew you could dye glass ..."
etc.
So we opted to film our next session so people would have a little idea what it was we were peddling, after all, if you hang around the booth watching our video and talking to us for 15 min, we've probably just sold you a ball. This sort of crap is how I graduated without borrowing a dime.
