  • teveat srey snom srisavan lukh hat krae krai kai chveng sdam

tevabon kap robam rorm thvuh tah tep kanha reyrorn douy chorut

rorm pel vulvong thrawng mouk chut hak nung snut kutchiek knea kaliya

something about the goddesses raise their hands left and right, the gods join in dance with the goddesses, in a straight line they dance around each other as close a comb to the ear, the pairs form a holy circle listening to prayers.

  • @iAMkhmer247 haha, yes you are correct indeed. i'm like you too, i'm really captivated by Khmer culture and also the Southeast Asian cultures in general. probably because it's both familiar and exotic. you know how there are some people who are really into all things japanese? well i'm like that, but with Khmer stuff. it just so happens that i'm also Khmer, what a happy coincidence that is, but i think i would still be interested even if i was some other ethnicity.

  • wow...you're nice! i think i love you now. ;)

  • Are those 25% of Cambodians who don't have access to education not Khmer enough by your standards? I already know that Khmer is a beautiful language; you don't have to tell me that. My proficiency or lack there of, does not diminish my appreciation for Khmer culture in anyway. Lastly, I'm a biology major at UCLA, so I think Im utilizing my brain quite well, thank you.

  • I would say probably better than most Khmer-Americans my age; well enough to sing along to songs (and know what they're talking about) and to speak to my parents only in Khmer because they don't know English that well. Just because I can't read Khmer because my parents never put me in Khmer class growing up because I was to busy learning English doesn't mean Im not Khmer "enough". Cambodia itself has a literacy rate of less 75%.
