I lived there from 1987-1988 and went here a couple of times. At the time, I was a typical long-haired musician that had moved from Texas to stay with my sister out there. It was like a different world. Most of the people were really nice and although I am not now, nor ever have been LDS, I was in awe of this area. It is breathtaking. It's great to be able to see it here, although, you HAVE to see it in person to get the feeling! Thanks for posting!
Love the Chritius Statue. Went to Salt Lake this spring and got the tour of temple square from two overly excited sister missionaries. Still, it was a great trip.
but it is a symbol of christ, not an idol, because it wasnt created from like someones imagination or anything, i guess i just have a different oppinion.
many people are yet to learn of him - the statue is a reminder of Him in a world that needs more of His guidance in their lives. A statue of the Saviour is appropriate. I have a picture of the Saviour in my house I worship God not the painting,- which is peaceful. I don't worship the canvas or Paint. Anything brought to mind through the senses is an image I would rather have one that represents the object of our true devotion. It is a reminder & a testament.
