JJ: "This is my tenth Arctic Rally. It's been 3 years since my last one, so I'll be going out there to practice."

MS: "It would be nice to have a bit more snow, there's too little of it. In previous years there's been more, but it's still great to be out here."

Q: Does this bring back F1 memories?

JJ: "Definitely not, just rally. That's a whole different world."

MS: "They're so different, so it's hard to compare. This is just for a bit of fun."

Q: There are four F1 drivers competing against each other here, how is that going to turn out?

MH: "Oh, it'll be just fine. We'll have lots of fun!"

Q: Who is going to be the fastest F1 driver?

JJ: "I am!"

Formula 1 2007 World Champion didn't give any comments today, staying persistently behind the doors of his Fiat. The driver predicted to be the fastest of the four found Räikkönen's silence to be humorous.

JJ: "Maybe his doors are just frozen shut, it's an Italian car so that could easily happen!"

Kimi did have time to exchange a few words with his competitor.

JJ: "Everything OK?"

KR: "Yep. Good luck."

JJ: "A good looking machine you have here."

KR: "Yep, it's a rally car."

JJ: "Indeed, this is really fancy, ours doesn't even compare. Did you have fun testing? Pacenotes OK?"

KR: "Yep. See ya."

JJ: "See you later."

The drivers were full of self confidence, and there was some playful banter before the rally.

JJ: "I have to say, that I'll be going fast!"

MS: "Yeah, yeah, that's what he thinks. You just have to tell him, "try to stay on the road!""

MH: "We have to keep a light approach to this and make jokes, because this is just a hobby for us, not a job."

For a bunch of hobbyists, all of them did quite good in the rally. Räikkönen let his driving do the talking, and was at first the fastest of the four, but towards the end had to yield to JJ Lehto. Kimi's best performance of the day was posting the 4th fastest time on Stage 6.

Even rally legend Tommi Mäkinen, who had set-up Kimi's car, was impressed.

TM: "It's very rare for someone to come in and do this well on their first try."

Kaj Lindström (Kimi's co-driver): "His driving and listening to the pacenotes, it's pretty incredible how well he is doing with so little experience. Of course, he's critical towards himself, and wants to go even faster."

Kimi Räikkönen's speed in a rally car was a surprise to many, but it's all very relative. JJ Lehto seemed to think they were already too far behind the leaders.

JJ: "We've been going too slow, we've been sitting on the brakes!"
