I have, probably more so than you have, since you think that reading it would actually HELP your argument. The fact is that if people turned out and read some of the proposed plans, they wouldn't support privatized medicine anymore.
And as for all those Canadians you guys keep talking about, I'd have to disagree. I've lived in countries with socialized medicine, and I have experienced none of the horror stories you and your side constantly spout.

Dude, have you read ANY part of HR 3200? I strongly suggest you do. Its important to know exactly what you are subscribing to.
You think socialized medicine is better? Do you know anyone from other countries? I know lots of Canadians, and the main thing they say is "the system is alright, just don't get sick"! Sure we all laugh after wards, but they really mean it.
Dude, talk to people from the UK, don't just look up canned responses. TALK to them. LISTEN to their stories. READ the bill.

We spend more on our healthcare than other countries that use socialized medicine, and they still have higher quality of care and better results from that care.
So, why would switching to a single payer system effect us differently than every other country that's done it?
And there's nothing invasive about it. It's a payment system, not a new branch of the government with goons who will force their way into your house and examine you.

I agree, healthcare SHOULD be about the patient. However what is being proposed is NOT about the patient, its about establishing a massive, invasive buracracy that will fair no better than the existing system. The existing system doesn't deserve to live, but replacing it with this...monstrosity, is the most asinine thing I've heard in a long time.
Quit playing partisan blame games and get real.
Lets first try some options that don't involve spending trillions we don't have, shall we?

Alternatives have been suggested. The republicans suggested we continue the same thing, and others made no suggestions.
And it's not being "Rammed through."
This has been on the table for more than a year.
With Healthcare, the ONLY focus should be on the patient, NOT on maintaining a company.
The reason Private healthcare fails is that the focus is elsewhere than the patient. The focus is on cutting costs (For the company, not the patient), raising the price of care and making more money.
-
That's the sad thing. I wanna know why it has to be rammed through, and no alternatives are being suggested. companies are gonna go under anyways, so why not instead make them non-profit instead (like they used to be as I understand it). Maintaining the company becomes the focus, not profits, so they will be judged by quality of care. People will still be able to shop around for care, the market will compete, driving down prices, and the public gets the benefits w/o someone withholding care.
Congress will eventually stop coming home to their districts. They stopped caring what those people wanted long ago.
