How active is WMT (Webmaster Tools) monitored by Google, specifically when there is a system error (such as the recent error in reporting the # of pages indexed)? Does Google need users to report the errors or does Google know the errors happen as fast as us?

  • Google having lots of tools makes it complicated sometimes. But thanks to this video. know I know what really happens in this kind of errors.

  • very useful

  • Questions, particularly from newbies, may seem impertinent, However they are intended to educate the questioner, hence remove his/her knowledge limitation in a given subject.

  • I really like the honesty of your response. This is an ever-present issue, especially when the person asking is your boss, ie. the customer.

I think the issue falls under the topic, "How does a unknowledgeable person evaluate the competence of a knowledgeable person?" Customers often try to evaluate coders by watching how fast they type, for instance. Unknowledgeable managers or customers have a difficult task in front of them.

If the monitoring is happening why do errors still come through?

  • Any engineer that gets indignant when asked if they do X needs an attitude adjustment. I'm sick to death of the "you're so stupid" attitude that the IT industry in general has developed. Especially when they are perfectly legitimate questions (and since there ARE errors to begin with, I don't think asking whether certain types of errors are monitored are exactly out of line--if it was so "of course I do that" then there wouldn't be errors to begin with). We engineers are human, therefore we err.

  • pointless questions regarding stuff that google gives for free, u people have realized how much ur biz depends of google, its crazy,
