Just feeling out my shoulders today...they were a bit sore from my last workout from the grinder with 460 lbs on the reverse-bands. So, I just warmed up as per usual to see how everything felt. 325 lbs felt okay, 360 lbs felt easy...so I thought I would try a triple with 380 lbs because my shoulders weren't bothering me at all...

It was a grinder...but I'll take it. Shoulders felt fine throughout the movement. Calculator puts that at around 417 lbs for a max, slightly better than a double with 390 lbs (415 lb max). Then I reduced the weight to 335 lbs and did 3 more sets of easy doubles.

Then I moved to the incline bench and started with 315 lbs. As soon as I took the bar off the rack I could feel my sore shoulders from last workout. So, I did 2 reps and called it a day. Obviously my shoulders aren't ready for that movement yet.

Besides the 380 lb triple, everything was quite easy and should help me recover nicely for the next few sessions.

Thanks for watching!

  • Do you ever lift more than maximal effort or 3 reps? You would see HUGE benefit hitting 3 sets of 10 reps at 315 or rather.. your lower end numbers would increase.

I hear ya bro...not sure I agree though. To start, I do lighter sets every once in awhile 5 to 10 rep sets, but only when I want to give my body a rest from lifting heavy. But with that said, when trying to add strength...you are always better off staying in the ATP-CP (adenosine triphosphate - creatine phosphate) energy system range for explosive power. High reps are just hypertrophy...you won't see a sprinter jogging 400m very often...

  • great job randy! that 3rd rep was insane!

  • shweet. Surprised you got that 3rd one.

  • shweet.

  • Where do you get your equipment from?

  • @BRETZERR Yea that sounds good. Your CNS is prolly burnt out, good thing you are going lighter for a bit

  • @PowerlifterTy16

Nope...I will probably knock it down to 310 lbs for reasonably comfortable sets of 8's. Should be an easy workout and that will refresh my body a bit.

  • @BRETZERR im trying out this joeskopec 5x5 16 week program have you heard of this?

  • @BRETZERR Well I have been commenting nicely on each video of yours. I just didnt get why you didnt reply back to me, I didnt do anything wrong, what i said was in the past. I was just a lil offended with what you said about me. Thats why i blew up, but I get over things.

I just figured that 380 wasnt really "light", so next week expecting maybe 365?
